The perfect way to start the New Year is with a hot new editorial. Check out this editorial for Plaid Magazine with photographer Alan Chan. The location of the shoot was at the Vancouver Museum. There was a lot going on with the background and the styling so I wanted to keep the makeup and hair quite simple. I concentrated on perfecting the models skin and doing a little bit of shading around her eyes. Her hair was really long so I wanted to sleek it out and really polished. I love doing beauty shoots because I get to really show off my makeup skillz. I just on the opportunity to work with Photographer Alex MacPherson because I love his beauty work. He did an amazing job at capturing this models perfect details for our shoot. The vibe was a little hollywood glamour inspired but with a modern twist. I made her lips super dark and kept her eyes bare except for some shading to frame them. I love how these pictures turned out!

Beautiful Brides - Michelle

Working with Brides is one of my favourite things. Being part of their big day is so special. My bride Michelle is a very good friend of mine so when she asked me to do her makeup & hair for her wedding, I was super excited. I knew she would look absolutely stunning. We did a classic clean updo for her hair with a headband accessory. For her makeup we did a really soft smoky eye using purples and lilacs which made her eyes pop and a pink lip.

Dark Purple Smoky Eye Makeup Tutorial

I love fall weddings. It's such a beautiful time of year and the colors of the surroundings create such gorgeous pictures. My recent bride Lara added to the beauty of these pictures like you can't imagine. Her vintage style dress that her mom hand-made took my breath away. Her classic makeup with a classic chignon up do was pure Audrey Hepburn. I loved everything about her look. Even her bridesmaids wore gorgeous classic tiffany blue dresses. She wanted her makeup to be very simple so I kept the tones very soft to allow her natural beauty to shine through. I recently got the chance to work with photographer and the host of the show "Sky's The Limit", Suzanne Teresa for a jewelry photo shoot. The jewelry brand has lots of diamonds in its collection and the model was super lucky because she got to wear all of them. I kept the makeup more classic and sultry to suit the style of the shoot and not take away from the jewelry itself. We had a gorgeous model so it made my job very easy. And of course the male model was just an accessory as well ;)

In my career as a makeup artist, I've been very fortunate to work with some of the most beautiful brides. My bride Helia was not only beautiful, she was the sweetest girl ever. I had the pleasure of meeting Helia and her mom at Helia's consultation and we had a great time trying out different looks. At her wedding, Helia was breathtaking. Her wedding gown was a beautiful princess gown and she then switched to a shorter, sexier dress for the reception. We kept her hair down and flowy, which is my favorite look for weddings. And her makeup with all about the eyes.

2 Shoots - One Photographer

I recently did a couple of different shoots with photographer Pooya Nabei. The shoots are completely different and that's what I love about them. It's always so fun to play around with hair and makeup and try different things; thats why I love doing shoots like this. The first shoot was all about COLOR - we used color for everything, the lighting, the clothes, the makeup. The model Renata did a beautiful job with her expressions and movements in this shoot.
The second shoot was the opposite - black, white and gray but still equally as beautiful. I kept the hair and makeup more simple and so was the wardrobe and lighting. Our model, Kendall's expressions and movements were very subtle but still made a strong impact.

For both shoots, I got to work with the wonderful stylist, Krista Sung.

I've also included some behind the scenes from our colorful shoot.

New Beauty Shoot

Beauty shoots are my favorite types of shoots to do because they are all about the makeup. So when I got the chance to do a photo shoot with photographer and retoucher Eydis Einarsdottir http://studio80s.com, I jumped on it. I knew with my makeup skills and her amazing photography and retouching skills, the images would be stunning. The other key factor to getting wonderful beauty shots are having an exceptional model. Eydis and I lucked out with our incredible model, Andrea Milner from NEXT Models http://www.nextmodels.ca Andrea was such a pleasure to work with. She's done countless photo shoots and magazine spreads and her face is gorgeous which made every makeup look I did stand out.

Since I had a new bio, I needed a new bio picture. I wanted a new updated shot of myself so I went to the best to get it done. I had the amazing pleasure of working with photographer and retoucher Eydis Einarsdottir for my own personal head shots. Coming from New York with over 17 years of retouching experience I knew I was in great hands for my pictures. Eydis's work can be seen in countless magazines and advertising campaigns. One of the things I love most about my job is making my clients incredibly happy on one of the most important days of their lives. My recent bride Amanda looked so beautiful as a bride, she took my breathe away. Knowing that I helped her look and feel her best on her wedding is such fulfilling feeling.

New Work - Fashion Editorial

I did a photo shoot a few weeks ago with photographer Eydis Einarsdottir, someone I've been wanting to work with for a while so I was very excited when I got the chance to. The shoot was shot at Sugar Studios, one of the top studios in Vancouver. It was a very fun, creative collaboration and I got to work with stylist Krista Sung, who did a fabulous job with the styling. Makeup and hair were both kept a bit more simple for this shoot to offset the elaborate wardrobe and accessories.

A few weeks ago, I was flown out for a job in Tofino. For those of you not from BC, Tofino is a little town on Vancouver Island. It's known for having beautiful beaches and great surfing. It's truly one of the most beautiful places. I got to stay at the Wickaninish Inn hotel which was right on the beach and had amazing views. I was there for 5 days assisting on a shoot for Aldo's sister company, SPRING. We shot all around the island. It was a huge crew that hailed from New York, London and LA. I got to assist an amazing makeup artist from LA who's worked with various people like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga. Overall it was a great experience and I was very excited to be a part of it. Here are a few pics from my trip.

This is a very soft, pretty look perfect for bridal. The look used neutral colors so you don't have to worry about clashing with your flower colors or the colors of your bridesmaids dresses. The concept had a very monochromatic feel so I kept the makeup very clean, strong brows, and lots of contouring. The shoot was all about color. We had a beautiful model, Renata who did an amazing job at bringing out her inner Diana Ross! Our stylist, Krista Sung did a beautiful job pulling long, colorul flowy dresses. Makeup with super bright neon orange lips with teal blue eyes. I did strong colors on her because I knew it would work with the lighting and the wardrobe. For hair, I went all out. I wanted big sexy hair and that's what we did.
